Koh Tao's geography... Getting Here | Map | Beaches and Locations
Surrounded by shallow reefs and littered with small capes, coves and bays Koh Tao is really the dream of any traveler. It is only a little bit more than 21 square kilometers and if one could actually drive a motor bike all the way around it this would only take an hour.
Due to the shape of the island and the geography many beaches can only be reached by boat due to the 'mountain range' than runs through the island.

As it can be seen from the map the most accessible beaches are Chalok Baan Kao, Mae Haad, Sairee Beach and Rocky Bay. Other beaches and bays such as Jansom Bay, Aow Leuk, Hin Wong Bay, Sai Thong Beach and Tanote Bay are slightly harder to get to - although worth the effort.
